Tom Petty – Jack (Epiphone Finnish Casino Online)

This is probably the first guitar cover of this song on YouTube. It’s from Tom Petty’s 2006 solo album, “Highway Companion.” I’ve always liked this track, and I wish they would have performed it live during the 30th Anniversary tour in 2006, but they didn’t.

If you’ve read the book, “Conversations with Tom Petty,” you know that it was actually Tom, not Mike that played the solo in this song. Tom even says something to the effect of, “the solo was so bad, they left it in!”

It’s a fun little song though. I’m using a ‘1965’ John Lennon Epiphone Finnish Casino Online (10 gauge Ernie Ball RnR Classics, set 2251) through a 1974 silverface Fender Princeton Reverb. The mic is a Sennheiser e835, and I’m running it into an iStudiolink 1/4″ to 1/8″ adapter, direct into my Macbook into Garageband.
